We are engaged in a war agaisnt drugs and crime between the United States and the Mexican cartels. There is no shortage of news reports of drugs pouring into the United States from Mexican sources. Recently, the US engaged in an attack on Venezuelan drug exports. Why Venezuela? There Mexican cartels situated right across our southern bordern border that pose a greater threat to American safety than anything in or from Venezuela.
This is a real and serious war, by the way. Drug smuggling into America and human trafficking are billion dollar annual businesses to the Mexican cartels. Organised crime in the United States is reaping a large chunk of those profits for itself. Street thugs, gangs, and crooked cops are also cashing in. Yes, crooked cops. They are everywhere, and they are there for the money. So, what about the federal law enforcement agencies? Why can't the FBI stop the crooked local police and sheriff's departments. Maybe some of the FBI is cashing in, too? Why not? And what else explains why the Mexican cartels are not being stopped in their tracks?
Let's take a look at some obvious facts. Last year, the United States sent stealth bombers to Iran and dropped bunker buster bombs that anihilated Iran's nuclear weapons manufacturing capabilities. That was an action conducted half-way around the world. Why can't we do something about what lurks in our own back yard? We have not only the stealth Air Force that gave Iran a wake-up call, we have ground forces in the United States that are equally, and in some case, more deadly. We have the intelligence gathering capabilities with its paramilitary underground military in the CIA. We have the intelligence gathering capability of the National Security Agency that can listen in to any conversation it wants in any part of the world that it chooses. We have the Department of Justice that is boss to the FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency, Alcohol Tobacco and Fire Arms, and the United States Marshall Service. There is the Department of Homeland Security, the Agency George Bush established to prevent events like the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, and that agency employs the Border Patrol, ICE, and the United States Coast Guard. On top of all that, the Defense Department has under its belt the entire United States military, which includes, Special Forces, SEALs, and Delta Forces.
With all that intelligence gathering capability and military firepower, why are the Mexican cartels in business? Sad to say, the answer, especially in view of the recent dustup with Venezuela, is that the federal government is not only tolerating the drug smuggling and human trafficking, it could be legitimately accused of profiting from it! What other answer can there be? It is not diplomacy that is keeping the United States from taking action against Mexico for supporting this illegal infringement on the national security of the United States. There is something far more sinister than ignorance. We have the military, political, and intelligence capability to put the Mexican cartels out of business, but we are not. The only reason why not is we do not want to. Our federal government does not desire to stop the drug smuggling and the human trafficking becasue our federal government is in on the action, and a lot of people in the Swamp are making a lot of money by allowing this travesty to not only occur but to thrive.
